Text Prompt Engineering, AI hairstyles, and an exclusive announcement ๐Ÿคฏ

ChatGPT is a powerful AI tool that can seem a bit daunting at first. You can ask it (pretty much) anything and receive an (almost aways) correct or creative answer.

We've officially hit Week 3 of Meta Minded and the subscriber list is growing ๐Ÿš€

Before we get into the juicy stuff I have planned for today, I wanted to thank you quickly for being an OG supporter and believing in my mission to make AI news, tools, and education accessible to all. As a thank you, I have an exclusively early announcement and invitation for you!

This time next week, in addition to Meta Minded, I will begin sending out a DAILY newsletter where I will be sharing UI designs that are created using AI. This newsletter will DOUBLE as a waitlist for a web app I am working on: AIUI. While I perfect the model, ship the website, and launch, I wanted to deliver something right away to really show off the potential AI has in the design world and share updates as I build.

Text Prompt Engineering

ChatGPT is a powerful AI tool that can seem a bit daunting at first. You can ask it (pretty much) anything and receive an (almost aways) correct or creative answer. The problem comes when you open up the website and are greeted with a blank slate. How do you craft a good prompt that will give you the exact blog post, tweet, piece of code, or meal plan you're looking to create? The secret lies in mastering the craft of prompt engineering AKA learning how to mush together the right series of words so that ChatGPT can understand WTF you're trying to say.

So whether you're a beginner just looking to have some fun or an entrepreneur hoping to use AI to propel your biz forward, here's how you do it:

  1. Have a conversation first: ChatGPT is good but sometimes it needs some context first. Just like when you chat with a human, try to give it some backstory, some examples to pull from, some comparisons, and really go into detail. Sometimes you will have to go back and forth a little until it truly understands. The more you give, the more you get. Here's an example: "I am a food blogger who specializes in swapping out bad habits for healthier alternatives. I am writing a blog on how a 10 minute walk a day can give you more energy. Some ways it can give you more energy are waking up your body with movement, improving your mood, and burning off stubborn fat that is holding you back. I believe this is better than long, strenuous exercise that can drain you. Please craft this full blog post for me using 800-1000 words."

  2. Feed it examples: If you have a particular writing style, workout style, or whatever style you are looking for, feed clear examples into ChatGPT so it get's a clear idea before giving it a go. Example: Copy and paste a portion from your favourite blogger and ask for something similar back in that style of writing. You can also go the route of referring to particular styles such "The writing style of Tony Robbins" or "The tweet writing style of Elon Musk" ... whoever really.

  3. If it's not right, correct it: Don't be afraid to tell ChatGPT when it's wrong and give it a little nudge in the right direction. It's how it learns. :) Example: "You did not give me a complete story with a beginning, middle and end. Please rewrite it and be sure to structure it with a beginning, middle and end." or "You did not send me the complete code. Please send me what is missing, including the closing tags."
